Summary: The story begins with Sam-I-Am running around a few pages that have no text. And so begins the funny adventure of Sam-I-Am who is trying to see if the man likes Green Eggs and Ham anywhere and everywhere. The places he goes will make kids giggle and have them saying, “I would not, could not!” right along.
Extension Activities:
*As you read the book, have the kids try to guess what is coming next. For example, he repeats where Sam-I-Am previously asked him and sees if the kids can remember the sequence of events. Afterwards, on a board, have them place pictures of the events in the order in which they happened.
*Discuss the types of green food there are and which ones they do or do not like to eat.
*Egg shell art – preparation: Teacher, start to save your eggshells and make sure you rinse them thoroughly. Provide each student with thick paper or construction paper, glue, plastic baggie, and dried eggshells. Let the students put the eggshells in the baggy and crush them with their hands. Next have the students put blue all over their paper and sprinkle the shells on the glue creating whatever design they want. Lastly, after they dry hang them up or even let them paint the shells!
