Summary- This book has a great moral to the story. Mama bear realizes that the family has forgotten their manners. She decides to make a chart of "The Bear Family Politeness Plan". It had two columns one labeled rudeness and one labeled penalty. For every rule broken it has an assigned punishment. Sister and Brother bear got their act together really quick after realizes all the chores they had to do. Papa bear took a little more work but in the end the bear family all got their manners back and the family was much happier. This story shows kids how to work together and that if they misbehave they will have a consequence. It also shows how important manners can be.

Extension Activity- Make a chart in the class of all the manners the kids should work on. Instead of making a negative chore, use positive reinforcement for whenever they show good manners they get a reward.

Another activity could be to have the kids share what their family rules are or what their parents value as manners.
