Summary: - This is a silly rhyming book about a boy who brings a bunch of animal friends on visits he makes to the King and Queen. Each day brings a new invitation for the boy, and a new request for the boy to bring a friend. The reader and the Royals don't find out who the friend is until they arrive at the palace. The illustrations are incredibly detailed. Each illustration has a unique use of color or black and white with the majority of contrast made through the use of lines and shading.
Extension Activity: - Students will draw the animal or creature that they would choose to bring with to visit the King and Queen. Then, students will write a paragraph about what will happen during their visit.
-Students will illustrate their story with the same type of line-and-color technique that the illustrator of the book used.
