Summary: - Marty finds a dog and he notices he is not just an ordinary dog. He figures out that he has been beaten by the owner Judd. Marty returns the dog but then the dog who he names Shiloh runs away again. Marty keeps the dog hidden until Shiloh gets attacked by a German Shepard. This is when Judd finds out where Shiloh is. Marty does't want Judd to take the dog back so he makes a deal that he will do hard labor for him if he lets him keep the dog. He ends up working so hard the Judd hands over the collar and gives Shiloh to Marty.
Extension Activities: -
Have the students help out a child or children from another country or a school that there are children who do not have a lot. Maybe a box of goodies like hats and mittens or just a food drive. Also if it is at the end of the year you could have the class put together a box full of left over school supplies that could be sent to a child who can't afford the basics possibly to a developing nation.
