This book explains why the number ten is so important and why it is the base of the numbers. The Romans used X for their number ten. Ten can only be divided by 2 and 5 so it makes it easier to calculate. Math is also much easier while using the number 10. Also it is easier to do change going from ten dollars.

Extension Activities: -
Have the kids write down different ways they write out the number 10.

Have the kids get into groups and give each other a number and they have to count one through 5 using 5 different ways to represent the numbers. An example would be 5-5=5 thats one number and IV would be another number.
