Summary: This is a funny book about a farmer's cows that write him notes saying they won't give him any milk until he provides them with electric blankets. When he refused to give them the blankets he got another note saying that the chickens refuse to give him any eggs until they get electric blankets.The farmer gave the duck a note to give to the cows. The cows said they would give the farmer the typewriter if he would give them electric blankets. The farmer finally agreed and left the blankets outside for them and the cows then returned the typewriter.
Extension Activity(s): Put the kids in small groups. Have them first dicuss the ways humans are able to communicate, ie. phone, email. When they are done with that, then have them discuss the ways that animals communicate with eachother, ie. barking, chirpping.
