Summary: The book following the spiritual journey of Harriet Tubman while she makes her first trip on the Underground Railroad and displays talks she's had with God about him wanting meaning for her to be free and help people to the north. She speaks of animals guarding her during midnight trips and of God telling her to hide from dogs in the river because they can't follow her sent.

Extension Activity: Teach the children about the Underground Railroad and the risks people took when they made the escape. Print off a map of the Underground Railroad and have the kids trace the trails slaves took to escape while coloring the states that supported slavery and those who were against it.
