Summary: This book is about an elementary aged boy named Oliver. Oliver thinks his teacher should be the president of the United States. Throughout the book he writes a letter to channel 39- (the place he thinks could win his teacher a spot as president). He writes to channel 39 about why his teacher should be president. He says she is used to being followed, she attends meetings, and she believes in good health care, which are all things a president does as well. This makes her perfect for president. Oliver tries to convince channel 39 that his teacher should be president of the United States because of the good things she does for her country. This is a funny book that is sure to keep children interested. Pictures look real with the appropriate shading of colors on each page.
Extension Activity: Have kids create an American flag standing for the U.S.A. Paints, markers, fabric, star stickers, and any other supplies would be provided for kids. Kids could create the flag however they wanted to. The Pledge of Allegiance would be said all together as a class after the students create their flag.
