Summary- This story is about a family that lives on a farm in the olden days. Each member of the family spends the year making candles, sheering sheep, knitting, farming and many other tasks. Once the year is over the father packs up his ox-cart filled with all of the things from the year and travels ten days to the market. He sells every last thing the family made, he then sells his cart, the ox and everything he had. Once he has nothing left to sell he makes the journey back home to his family. They begin again to make all of their belongings and products to sell next year. This is a great story about family and working together. It shows how a business can work and how productive just one family can be.

Extension Activity- Bring all the supplies to make crayon candles.
