Summary: - This book is about seven little ducklings and what they do in their daily lives. This includes, chasing bumble bees, quacking on the shore, and swimming in the pond. With each flip of the page you get a new little rhyme about the ducks that starts out with "Seven ducklings, 6 plus 1... or 5 plus 2... etc." So not only are the readers learning how to count the ducklings on the page, but they are also learning addition.
Extension Activities: - After reading the story to the kids, bring seven volunteers to the front of the classroom to be the "ducks". Read through the story again and have them make the groups in the story. This teaches them how to count in a different way. Another thing you could have the kids do is make seven little ducklings out of construction paper and glue sticks, then as you read the story the children would follow along making the groups from the story on their desk
