Summary: This is a story of a puppy named Spot. He wants to help his mom bake a cake because it's his dad's birthday. The book has flaps and they reveal that Spot and his mom have to go to the store to get the ingredients for the cake. Spot has to find the chocolate. Once they have bought all the ingredients they bring them home to begin making the cake. Spot has the big job of stirring the cake up and once it is put in the oven to bake he has to help his mom clean up the kitchen. As the cake then comes out of the oven, Spot is very excited to decorate it for his dad. He makes his dad a card and they then have a party to celebrates his dad's birthday!
Extension Activity: For this extension activity, the class is going to make a cake. The class is going to have a birthday party for everyone in the class because some of the students won't be in school on their birthdays. They will make cards for their classmates and exchange them while enjoying the cake.
