It is a good book to read for bed time and learn how to count at the same time.  It can also be a great book for children learning how to count and that they can count anything.
Extension Activities:
Have the children find random things in their house.  For example, buttons or candy and glue them on a piece on construction paper.  Then have a show and tell what they found and how many and all the students can count each one together.
