Summary: This book is about a young prince who learns a valuable lesson from someonw he never imagined could help him. The story is about a young, spoiled, appalling prince who thinks he can get away with anything. When the prince misbehaves, which he does on purpose a lot, he never ets punished. Instead a little poor boy, called the whipping boy, gets punished for him. Everyday the prince misbehaves and the whipping boy gets punished. One day, the prince decideds to run away and wants to take the whipping boys with him. Little did they know, what waited for them in the forest changed everything. Two men approach and hassle the little boys. The price blamed the whopping boy for all of this mess but the whipping boy did not care. He stood up for the prince and helped recue them back to the castle. The price was amazed that the whipping boy could protect him. He learned right then and there what a true friend was. After that, the whipping boy was never hit again. The prince behaved from then on and took blame for his actions.
Extension Activity: Have the students tell eachother stories of when they have mad a bad decsion and what they learned for that.
