Summary: Harold continues his adventures with his purple crayon in this book where he travels to the sky. He starts by getting a drink of water along with his purple crayon and the moon. He winds up in the desert and thinks it’s boring until he remembers the “government shoots stuff off in the desert with rockets” so he draws himself a rocket and sails off into the sky.
Extension Activities: Provide the children with note cards and only purple crayons. Have the students depict their own trip to the sky by drawing out what they think they would encounter on the moon on each side of the note cards. Make sure they label them in order. After they finish have them show their pictures to the class and tell their trip to the sky.
