Summary: - Caleb doesn't remember mama because she died giving birth to him. Anna misses mama and papa singing together and Caleb asks a lot of questions about her. Anna really misses her and her singing, and does not really like Caleb because she died giving birth to him Papa writes a letter to the newspaper asking for a wife. Sarah from Maine writes back and says she is interested to come and see what it is like. Anna writes a letter to her asking if she can do some of the things that her mama used to do. Sarah writes back and says she can do most of those things and that she will come by train and that she is plain and tall. Papa leaves to go pick her up and she was exactly as she described. When she gets there she really misses Maine but Papa, Caleb and Anna try and make her feel at home by bringing in what she says she misses the most. One day Sarah goes into town after learning how to drive horses. Caleb and Anna are afraid that she won't be coming back, but when she comes back she brings gifts and says that she will be staying forever.
