Summary: Max, a mischief boy, is sent to his room one night without supper and before his eyes a forest grows in his room and he sails away to the land of Wild Things. He meets the monsters of Wild Things but conquers them by “staring into all their yellows eyes and blinking once”. He is made “king of all Wild Things” and he dances with the monsters in a “Wild Rumpus”. But soon enough, he gets homesick and returns home to find a hot supper waiting for him in his room.
Extension Activities:
-Children create their own world of “Wild Things” on construction paper and elaborate on what they made by writing a few sentences about their own world.
